| 16 January 1963 - Curling - Grand Curling Match, Lake of Menteith, Scotland - The grand curling match takes place on Lake Menteith in Scotland. The event is only held when the weather is cold enough for the lake to freeze over. Over 2000 curlers will compete on 250 rinks specially cut into the ice.
